Former legislator Lishi Legi’s son has been booked along with two accomplices for allegedly getting murdered his pregnant wife, sources informed on Tuesday.
The Banderdewa police has arrested the main accused and two men (a driver and a suspected accomplice) on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy.
Police arrested Roni Lishi, husband of deceased Meena Lishi who was found dead in Karsingsa on November 5.
The case against the former MLA’s son has been registered at Banderdewa police station by in-laws on November 5.
According to police investigation, the circumstances under which Meena was found dead in a pool of blood with multiple injury marks on her body at the road side, is suspected to be a well-planned murder.
“She (Meena) was in her 7-month of pregnancy, which is being speculated as the main cause of her death, but the scenes inside the car tells a different story. She had deep cut marks on her thigh, palm, and head. Also, her left hand was found swollen,” victim’s family members told this daily.
Reliable sources close to deceased said Meena refused to sign divorce papers which Roni was forcing on her since 5 months ago which led to tension between the couple.
According to sources, the deceased was called by her husband to come to their farm at Karsingsa on the fateful day. He had sent a car with a newly recruited driver.
At around 1200 to 1300 hours, a few meters before reaching Karsingsa block point, one of the witnesses saw a lady trying to get out of the Toyota Innova car (where Meena was reportedly in).
“My car was at a distance of 50 meters away when I saw a barefoot lady trying to get out of a moving Toyota Innova car, and it was misbalanced. It was about to hit my car. Fortunately, the driver succeeded to hit the brake on time,” one of the witnesses told Independent Review.
After 10 minutes, when I was going back to Karsingsa, I saw the same car that had met with an accident at the roadside, and reportedly, one had died, the witness further told this daily.
Initially, the driver of Toyota Innova, was reasoning with the car’s brake failure as the reason behind the accident.
However, when this daily asked the roadside vegetable vendors at Karsingsa block point they ruled out any brake failure of the car. According to them the car was moving at a normal speed.
“The car was moving at a normal speed but all of a sudden it skidded off the road despite no other vehicle coming from the opposite direction. We saw the driver coming out of the car except the lady,” the vegetable vendors told this daily.
As per reliable sources, the accused driver, in his alleged confession before the police, said that he along with another accomplice was asked by deceased’s husband to execute the murder of her wife.
However, the other accomplice who was arrested by the police did not confess anything till the filling of this report.
The Banderdewa police have registered a case under BDW PS case no. 22/2020 u/s 279/304 (A) IPC. According to police sources, the main accused Roni maybe charged under section of 302 of the Indian Penal Code by tomorrow.
